I have a 4yr old computer, old time machine AMD athlon 800mghz, 384 PC133 Ram, 80gb hd, ScktA motherboard, was working pretty well as media centre (for mp3 storage etc) not connected to internet, decided to make it look better by upgrading case and psu, unfortunatly, even after being very careful, put it all together and now it wont work, case fan and lights come on for a split sec then, nothing, what has this first time modder done wrong? Have checked connections, earths etc, psu brand new, even tried old one, same thing happens. #Any ideas anyone?

Check your connections again - particularly those from the PSU to the motherboard.

Check power supply connections and the connections to the switches on the front panel of the case.

sounds to me as if you have the mobo shorted to the case. Take it out and lay it on an insulated pad and try again. If it now works you have to find out where it is earthing and put an insulatgor there.
