Upgrading memory

  swapper 07:57 11 Jul 10

I've been advised to upgrade my memory (on my PC),
At the moment I have 2 x 256mbytes DDR(PC3200).
What should I be looking for please?
I can install myself.

Sorry, I should have said that I have
Windows XPPro.SP3

Try the scanner click here

512 is the bottom end for XP, but if your usage is quite simple stuff, then no need to go overboard. If the scanner allows 1Gb, that should be enough.

VoG™, onthelimit,

I'm sorry, but where does the scanner come into it?

I need to increase the memory, but I'm not certain what I should do about it.

Can I just double up on what I have got, and if so what is the correct name of the card, is it DDR?

The Crucial website has an online scanner which will detect the hardware you have installed, and then will reliably inform you of the upgrade options open to you.

Like Miké says the crucial scanner will tell you exactly what is in your computer and exactly what you can upgrade to, when you have decided how much yuo want to put in, select "buy now"...
It really is that simple...

I' m really sorry about that, when I clicked on the link that VoG™ suggested, I got the DABS website suggesting I buy a xerox Docmate 152 scanner? hence "Where does the scanner come into it".
I've now got the correct site which advises a 2gb
So thank you very much everyone, I think I can go from there!

Thanks again
