upgrading Hard Drive

I am upgrading my hard drive. How do i transfer informaion and make the new drive the boot drive?

simplest is to fit the new drive as the master drive and make your existing drive the slave. Load your operating system to the new drive, it should be automatically entered into the bios if your pc is a not too old model, and then having set up your progs on the new drive just copy what you want from the old one.

The new hard drive will have software at the manufactures web site. This will allow you to clone your older drive. This will make the new drive bootable and transfer all your programmes, settings and files to the new hard drive.

You can then format the old drive and use it as a slave.

Or buy an excellent product like acronis true image.

Depending on your O/S you can use xxcopy or xxclone.

You would need to Fdisk, Partition and Format your new hard disk.
