Upgrading CPU, MB, Ram is it worth it?

Hi, I have been looking at some upgrades for my PC, and wondering whether I will get any significant performace improvements to justify the money.

My current setup: Core 2 Duo e8400 2.61ghz Nforce 680i lt sli mb 2gb Corsair XMS2 1333mhz mem MSI Nvidia 9600gt o 1gb gpu

I'm looking to spend £200, and thought I'd change the CPU, Motherboard(1156socket) and RAM(DDR3), I was thinking of starting with the Intel Core i5 650 3.2ghz which I'll get for about £110, not sure what memory and mothboard I'll get out of the remaining £90.

So, the question is, is it worth upgrading? If so am I getting the right CPU? What motherboard and ram should I get(it needs to be ATX)

I would have a look at a Sandybridge upgrade (1155) rather than the 1156 you mentioned. Perhaps a P67 motherboard with a Intel i3 2100 CPU. This would cost around £ 140/150 with plenty over for a decent bit of ram. I am on the iPad at the moment so cannot, very easily price up components for you. But have a look at Scan Computing and Ebuyer, two stores I use regularly, and price up your needs. I'll have a look tomorrow if you want.

Look at Novatech motherboard bundles here to give you an idea of what you can get for your money

Thanks for the reply, I have ditched the idea of getting the i5, I am looking at three processors intel i3 2105(£105) with intel hd 3000 graphics, the intel i3 2120 with 200hd graphics(£92), or the i3 2100 with hd 2000 graphics, to complement this I am looking at the:

GeIL EVO DDR3 4GB (2x2) PC3 17000 2133Mhz Memory(£49)

and

Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3 REV3 Motherboard(£57)

or Gigabyte H61MA-D3V Socket 1155 Motherboard(£43)

The Asus mobo is a uATX which makes it very small and the Gigabyte is a mATX which is the next size up.

Gigabyte specs.. Asus specs.. Whereas the aAsus will probably fit in your ATX case I am not so sure about the Gigabyte. Did you check RAM compatibility with your motherboards. You will find Memory support lists on both the mobo pages.

I am struggling a bit here, not sure if I can make this happen is it worth upgrading to 1333mhz memory?

OK. These three items are all from Ebuyer.

CPU.

Motherboard.

RAM.

If you choose within 5 working days delivery is free,I have never had to wait 5 days,I think the most was 2. Total cost £193.41.

These are from Scan, an etailer I use a lot.Great customer service.

CPU.

Motherboard.

RAM.

With delivery this costs £192.27.

I have chosen the Z68 mobo over the P67 mainly because it has integrated graphics support.
