Can I just put Windows 98 Se over Windows 98 or should I reformat

  suburban train 21:19 13 Feb 03

backup all your data and reformat it will get rid of all those niggly files and overall save you hard disc space

No, don't format. U will not B able 2 install 98se. Reload over win 98. When it asks U to save the win98 files files thats up 2 U. I never have. Had no problems.

98/98SE=Ford OH Dear!!

Seriously XP is great fun and a breeze.

Pc-cillin. With you 100% with that comment. I have X\P pro and it is absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately some cannot do this through either budget restraints or incompatibility with drivers.

Whether you can just install Win98SE over 98 depends on the 98SE version you have, Upgrade or Full.

There are a number of threads on this subject and plenty of advice on what steps to take based on which version is available.

Don't reformat just install win98se over win98

If you get a message saying this cannot be done because you already have a system then rename win.com to something like exwin.com to fool setup into thinking that you do not have a system.

Don't listen to the XP masochists Win98se is tops.

I'm sure that anyone reading flecc's thread about the win 9x core will hardly be able to doubt the capabilties of it.

XP is not my prefered choice, I'd go for 98 over the top of that any day (although I use 2000!)

D'oh!
