Upgrade to Windows 7

I have a PC with an Abit A-N68SV mobo. Installation of W7 onto a SSD or HDD is extremely slow. I'm wondering if the mobo does not support W7 and I cannot find any drivers that might help. Do I need to replace mobo?

I suggest you go to the Microsoft site and check via the upgrade assistant

How are you trying to update to Win 7. From DVD, memory stick? The fact you are updating to an SSD will not speed up the install as the contoling factor will be the slowest part of the system ie the DVD drive or USB port. It usually takes around 30-60 mins to install

Looked at the M/B spec and it is certainly a bit long in the tooth ie 2008 vintage. You don't say which CPU you have installed. However I have a similar vintage M/B running fine on Win 7 so don't see any reason it should not install and run, maybe a bit slower than you would hope but it should install. Give it an hour to do so and would not like to estimate how long for the updates to download and install as there are around 300 I think.
