Upgrade of cpu - core voltage help

  Marty1 13:33 30 Jan 03

I have a faster cpu which i would like to fit to my BX motherboard. However the core voltage is 2.0v whereas the original is 2.8v. Silly question maybe, but does this mean I can't use it?

No not if you cannot reduce the volts you need to check the motherboard jumper settings, and CMOS for volt settings

Also tell us what cpu you had and what cpu you have now, as there were pretty big changes to the older Pentium motherboards.

I run a Pentium II 300 and the replacement is a Pentium II 400, both Slot 1s. I know its not much but I am using it as a learning curve as well.
