Upgrade - can I run 333 fsb cpu with pc2100 ram

I currently have an asus a7v333 rev2 mobo, with a 266 fsb xp2000 & pc2100 ram

I have taken delivery of an xp3000 - 333 fsb, and am currently waiting on pc3200 DDR & a new h/sink & fan. I think the memory may not arrive until after I go away next week, and am wondering could I ift the cpu at the weekend and run it with the pc2100 ram.

I realise I would probably have to run the cpu at 266 FSB until I get the ram - will this give me any problems.

Many bios allow different frequency setting for CPU and memory. Dig into your bios setup screen and look around to see if it is possible.

I cannot find a7v333 in ASUS's web site.

Checked the manual, found out you can set "CPU/Memory Frequency Ratio", this means that you can run CPU and memory at different frequency.

thanks for that info, hopefully if the new cooler arrives by the weekend I will go ahead and fit the new cpu. Will then just be waiting for the new PC3200 RAM.
