Upgrade broadband, but want about existing modem

I have an standard internal 56k modem and thinking of upgrading to broadband. Do I need to remove the existing modem, which I assume will be redundant or is this still required to connect the the new broadband modem to for the PC connection... Iam confused!

JMack, Newuser3052 is right if you're connected by cable you cannot fax so leave your modem in.

I did, thank goodness, 'cos I've just had to fax copies of some documents.

ps the connection will be via USB or ethernet card, nothing to do with your existing modem.

you wont need your 56k modem you will need an adsl or cable modem depending on who you go with for broadband but its always worth keeping hold of 56k just in case
