Hello. I am on a very limited budget (max £200) for upgrades to my home PC and I would like advice/suggestions for which components to upgarde, replce or add to improve performance and general user experience. I use it for gaming (although it is now struggling with newer games and the graphics card has no pixel shader), home 'office' style work and storing photos. I also store small amounts (10GB) of video and music.

Current spec:

Mesh Matrix PC (XP Home Edition Service Pack 2)
AMD Athlon XP1800+ (1.54GHz)
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
512MB RAM
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7A266-E REV 1.xx
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software, Inc. ASUS A7A266-E ACPI BIOS Revision 1011 03/01/2002
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
Creative SB Live! series 5.1 speakers
MAXTOR 60GB hard drive (23GB free)
PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-116
TEAC CD-W524E
4x USB 1.0
2x Firewire
Ethernet & modem
Lexmark X73 MFP Scanner

Thats its!

Many thanks in anticipation.
Cheers
S

the link will help you regarding upgrades.
More memory will improve things no end and of course a better graphics card, useing the prompts will guide you to both.
A second HDD would be an advantage especially for backing up..

second one down is the sort of thing i would look at..

Get more RAM and a new graphics card.

RAM:
Go to crucial and scan your system to see what you need click here
Look at 1 x 1GB (or more) for ~£60 - 70

Graphics:
Use the rest to get a new graphics card. I assume your using AGP. I like Nvidia, look at their 6600, 6800 cards, maybe sometihng like click here

Dont know much about ATI, maybe a X1600 or summin.
