I have a nec 2500a in my computer which can burn 8x speed dvd discs , but after having bought some memorex dvd-r 16x speed , how do I upgrade my drive to be able to use these discs ?

Yank it out and put it a drive that supports 16xspeed media, because as far as I can tell from google, your drive is limited to 8xspeed.

Having said that, your drive will still be able to write to the new disks, just not at their full speed, which IMO is prone to errors anyway.

Stick with burning at lower speeds for better results, you can make yourself a cuppa whilst your waiting the extra 5 minutes it takes to complete a burn.
