I have the free edition of AVG on my computer. It worked perfectly for the first 12 months but since installing Version 7 as instructed it wont allow me to update the database. The message i get is "An error occured when connecting to the update server. The update cannot be performed"

Anybody else had this problem or know a way round it

Thanks

I've lost count how many times I've uninstalled and reinstalled.

I've downloaded the file and put it on my C drive

What do I do now

download the update file to the desktop, run avg update, it will ask where from, internet or folder, chose folder and browse to desktop and click ok.

Do you have a firewall?

I found that in some cases when installing it (for friends and relatives) that ZoneAlarm has to have avginet.exe and avgemc.exe added to the Program Control panel.

You'll need to use ZA's Browse button (I'm assuming that you have ZA!) to navigate to Program Files>Grisoft>AVG Free, scroll down to find the two .exe files and add each in turn.
