Best phone camera 2016/2017: Galaxy S7 vs iPhone 7 vs Google Pixel vs HTC 10 Evo vs OnePlus 3T vs…
Just read this and tried it successfully to update my anti-spyware definitions (from ZoneLabs website forum of users)
"Like many others I've been getting nowhere fast with the spyware update and mailed Zone Labs support for help. Reply went like this:
"I understand you cannot update your Antispyware definition files. To correct this you will need to boot into Safe Mode and clear some files from your internet logs. To do that please follow the steps below:
1 Shut down your computer
2 Start it back up, but start tapping the F8 key as soon as the black screen appears
3 A start up menu will give you options. Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter
4 Click Yes on any warnings you receive until you reach the desktop
5 Open My Computer
6 Double click on the C: drive
7 Double click on the Windows folder
8 Double click on the Internet Logs folder
9 Delete the files that end in the following extensions: .LDB .RDB .PMP
10 Empty the Recycle Bin
11 Restart your computer normally"
This worked for me after trying to download updates for over a week - unfortunately by deleting one of the files I found as instructed I managed to removed my trusted internet connection back-up list but I just re-apply the trusted zone when requested. This is a small price to pay to get the updates I wanted and the protection afforded by the latest definitions.
I hope this provides useful information for users of Windows XP as this is the only version I can vouch for.
Apparently ZoneLabs have assured users a software update will solve the problem in due course - if you are happier to wait for this then do so.
No timescale on when this will be available.
