Is it possible to prevent an certain update from atuomatically installing itself if a users pc is setto take updates automatically?

Theres a certain update thats causing the pc to keep rebooting.

and ask it to ignore a particular update in future whether it's manual or automatic so yes.

If you go on to the Windows or Microsoft Update site(depends on which one you use) you can click the + sign on the update you don't want and it then gives you the choice of not showing it again. If you do this then it will not automatically download that particular update but continue to do the rest of them.

In the Secuirty Center (XP), from Automatic Updates, select Notify Me of Updates but do not install them.

When the yellow updates icon appears, click on it and choose Customise.

You can then select whichever update(s) you require and click OK. A panel will appear and you should check the box so that you are not informed again of any update(s) you have deselected.
