Update Bios

My PC is now over 3 years old

I have a ASUS A78NX Deluxe mobo and whilst checking their website I noticed that there is a more up to date BIOS version available.

Mine is currently 1001.

I have downloaded it to a floppy plus the lastest awdflash.exe

Not being an expert in these matters should I save the original settings to another disk before attemping to update.

I have read the manual and understand the process or am I better off leaving well alone.

Your advice would be most welcome.

There are two schools of thought to this issue.

Some will tell you if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Others will say go for it, but there is always a small risk something could go badly wrong.

If your system is running without any problems then I would leave well alone.

If you get it wrong then your system may very well end up pearshaped...:-(

System is running fine.

Will leave well alone !!

Unless there is a particular reason for the update then don't do it. If the PC is running fine then theres no reason, it won't make the PC run any faster so just leave it is my advice.

My best mate's computer system is an AMD 900MHz CPU based setup running XP Pro - the Bios date is sometime in 2000...:-)
