Unwanted System Tray Lan Connection Icons

  allan01 16:33 12 Jul 04

Since installing my broadband modem, and my bluetooth adaptor, I now have several unwanted icons in my system tray. They resemble the one with two televisions you get when connected to the internet, except these ones have red crosses through them. I have checked the Dial-Up Network properties of these connections, and none are set to show an icon when connected. Also, if I use the "Hide Inactive Icons" feature from the taskbar, they still continually reappear when the machine is restarted. Does anybody know how to stop these unwanted connection icons appearing?

Right click taskbar, properties, Customize button, set them to Always hide.

Apologies if you've already done this.

Thanks YoG, but I have already tried this. It works fine at the time, but the icons then come back after a restart.

Do you use they network card?

If not... go to network connections and disable the device it will go away then...

If you use a ethernet conx then you will need it

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick.
