Unwanted Office 2007 trial

  Newuser939 16:12 24 Sep 07

I use Office 2003 and am quite happy with it. However, I have just bought a new laptop with a trial copy of Office 2007 on it. My first thought was just to let it sit there as it didn't seem to be doing any harm and so I installed Office 2003 and all appeared to be fine. However, when I tried to download an add-in for Office 2003, the validation tool would not let me as, although Office 2003 is validated, Office 2007 was not. Plan B, therefore, was to validate Office 2007 just for the sake of it. I duly got my product trial key, but whenever I open Office 2007 it just produces a variety of error messages but refuses to ask for a product key so it is impossible to validate. Trying to uninstall Office 2007 produced a total system crash which could only be repaired with system restore putting me straight into a viscious circle. Has anybody else had a similar problem and, if so what was the solution?

uninstall 2003, then 2007.

Do all this in safe mode.

if this does not work we can look in to manual unninstall
