Unwanted file deletion

After several warnings of damaged C:drive which a check failed to find anything wrong, I had a catastrophic failure I restored the original system on a D: partition. This left two unwanted folders on C:, Docs & Settings and Epson. Epson has 0 bytes and 42 files (all Epson)in a string. The Docs & Settings has 0 Bytes. Have unticked read only etc but none will delete. Simple disc arithmetic shows that they in fact are using 10 Gb. How do I get rid of them?

Try restarting in safe mode, (keep tapping F8 on boot up) and retry deleting the folders.
