Unusual Monitor Problem!

I have a Benq G2400W monitor, which I have had set up to my PC via DVI and PS3 via HDMI. Recently it has stopped detecting the PS3 input.

I thought it was the ps3, but the ps3 still outputs fine to the TV through the same HDMI cable. So the cable is not a problem.

I then tried using a different output, so connected the HDMI from a laptop to the screen, which also didn't work. (Again I checked the laptop output on the TV to ensure it was sending a signal)

I conluded that the HDMI input has stopped working on the monitor, even though the DVI and VGA connectors are still fine. But for one last check I connected a different PC to the monitor, using a DVI-HDMI cable, and this worked fine!

Could there be some problem with authenticating the signal when a normal HDMI cable is used? Why does the HDMI input only work when connected through the DVI output of the computer?
