as i was doing an AV scan today i noticed it was scanning things like

c:\programfiles\hitvirus\hitvirus.exe
c:\windows\hookerdll.dll
c:\programfiles\cowabanga\cowabanga.exe

i expected Norton to notice they shouldnt be there but during the scan it says :

Scanning commonly infected areas and startup files

scans my system and says 0 security risks detected???

How do i get rid of these items - today ive tried aol's spyware removal , Norton scans , Adaware se , spybot search and destroy and still they show up as files on my pc when i do a virus check ???

Im not very technically minded so its probably easy to sort just im too thick to know how or what to do

any help appreciated

I think these are viruses the program is looking for - and in your case, fortunately, not finding.
That's what you see with Spybot for example (if I rememebr correctly).
