woodchip,can you please explain 'So how are you going to use the program? without buying the discs'.Not to sure what you mean. I have a Seagate HDD,and have their scanner,but I used a WD scanner on Samsung HDD,it didn't like it. Hence the universal scanner.
You need to run it from a Floppy disc, put a floppy in the drive and double on the seatools after you have downloaded it. This will create a Boot Floppy that you can boot the computer and test your drive. You need to change the boot order so that floppy is set to first boot device in BIOS followed by the Hard Drive
You can get a small proggy called Smart Explorer by Adenix, this makes the HDD's built in SMART records visible and gives an indication of whether the drive has a history of errors and has become degraded.
