Uninstalling Windows

I have windows 98 and XP Home. I get sound with windows 98 and can play CD'S, but when on windows XP no sound at all, not even when booting up. Thank you for any advice. Felix

Why the Title Uninstalling Windows?? It sounds like you need Drivers that will support your sound card or onboard sound. What have you got for sound. the Drivers would have to be loaded in XP

I got confused with this title as well. The problem is surprising, as I would expect it to be the other way round. XP comes with a plethora of sound drivers, and should have installed something. Unless this machine has something really rare, or not suported at all in XP.

What does it say in Device Manager, is anything listed with a question mark for instance?
