hi outhere,I am trying to uninstall a program using'add/remove programs' ( I am in XP).I get the message 'cannot find INSTALL.LOG file'Anyone any ideas on how I get around this.
The install.log file has been deleted, and that file contains the information needed to uninstall the program. About the best you can do at this point is to re-install, then uninstall.
thanks 'spikeychris'..but I made a mistake inmy information...the message said 'could notopen' .....rather than 'could not find'.So unfortunately your suggestion does notwork....Any other ideas?
Try this.Log on as Adminstrator or a user account with Administrator privileges. Go to the relevant folder where the program is installed. Usually, it's C:\Program Files\[program name]. Check that the install.log file is there. If so, see if there's an unwise.exe file. If so, click Start, Run, type cmd and press Enter to open a command prompt window. At the C:> prompt, change the directory to the folder where the program is installed. For example, if the unwise.exe and install.log file are stored in the folder C:\Program Files\ABC, at the prompt, type: cd program files\abcand press Enter. At the next prompt, type: unwise install.log and press Enter. See if it works. After that, you may need to delete the Program Files\ABC folder manually. If this method doesn't work, or doesn't apply to your situation, post back.
thanks for your sugggestion 'temp003' butyou are taking me 'out of my depth'.For a start I have no idea how to logonas 'Administrator' or 'with Administratorprivileges'.Thanks anyway I guess I will just live with the situation.
