Unfamiliar folders in Windows folder

I run Windows XP SP2.
In my C:\Windows\ folder there is a list of about 16 sub-folders whose titles appear in blue type (instead of the normal black). The first one is called $NtUninstallbasecsp$, and the rest have collections of alphanumerics, such as $NtUninstallB888795$.

Can anyone tell me what these folders are please? And should I just ignore them, or delete them, or what?

Thanks for your help.

They are "backups" from before you installed Windows Update "fixes".
If your computer is working fine, you can delete this folders
And they are blue because they are "compressed"

Hope that helps

My computer seems to be running fine, so I'll delete the files. However I think I;d prefer to leave hidden files/folders visible.
Many thanks for the advice.
