I've recently installed a usb camera into my Toshiba Satellite laptop running xp home.
I'm trying to set up a small webcam outside the kitchen window, using two 3metre cables and a powered hub.
A few small problems led me to look at the device manager and I see that it shows : -
Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Intel(r) 82810DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24CD
Intel(R) 82810DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C2
Intel(R) 82810DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C4
Intel(R) 82810DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C7
Logitech USB Camera (Communicate STX)
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

As I only have two usb ports, can some helpful person explain to me why there are so many entries, and the significance of the 24CX numbers ?
However, I have also installed other usb devices in the past ie a usb/wan adapter, a different webcam etc.
Are these responsible for all the entries ?
MTIA,
John

..for the perfect answer, as usual.
Regards, and stay away from the monkeys - bad vibes.
