Understanding Memory Designation

My Corsair memory designation is:

CM2X1024-6400C4DHX

Now, as I look to add more, I find it listed everywhere only as: CM2X1024-6400C
and sometimes as: CM2X1024-6400C4

In short, the last three or four characters are never specified. So how do I know whether or not the memory is suitable?

It's as if the last four characters are somehow redundant.

(Are they?)

Thanks,
Phrixos

The DHX designates that it has a heat spreader on the module click here as opposed to the C$ which does not

A search of the Corsair website for CM2X1024-6400C only results in being asked "do you mean CM2X1024-6400C4"
