Unable to use head phone

Hello,
This is a question about using headphones on my computer.

My monitor has speakers built in which I am not using as I have got a 2.1 speaker set up.

I have a headphone socket on the monitor, and also one on the front of the tower.

When I put the headphones in the monitor or the tower they do not work.

Is there a simple solution to this?.

Thank you.

Try going to START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES on speaker settings click 'advanced' then under 'speaker setup' scroll down to headphones, click on 'apply' and exit with 'ok'

Ok thank you.

Done what you said .
Changed it from desktop speakers to headphones,
But still no sound out of headphones.

Cheers

Where is the 2.1 setup connected to? A sound card? If so, then you will need to connect the headphones to the same outlet.

Well the same thing - the head phones will likely have to be plugged into that...

Plug them into a radio or CD player.

Check that their impedance exceeds 8ohms. I believe that that is the lower limit.
