unable to surf the net after plugging in USBwebcam

I'm unable to access the internet after plugging a USB webcam into my computer.
The modem connects to my ISP but "the page cannot be displayed" message appears when I click on internet explorer icon.
If I unplug the camera I can then surf the net.
This happens wether the camera software is installed or not.....seems to be a USB channel problem but its working fine according to device manager.
Anyone have any ideas for me to explore....thanks

running windows xp pro

i suspect your pc has not enough resources to run both ports and chooses the less demanding, you should get round it by using a self power (ie own mains supply) hub for webcam leaving pc to run your modem or vice a versa.

so when U say not enough resources johnny are u refering to a power supply problem?

My modem actually dials out ok with the camera attached and connects ....its the browser that falls on its back and sticks its legs in the air
