Unable to Install XP Pro

I've just bought a new 250Gb Hitachi Deskstar Hard drive. The drive is recognised by bios, and windows goes through the process of checking the disk and allowing me to format it as NTFS file system. However, it gets to installing at 2% then throws up a blue screen with the message abt file aha154x.sys and says

Anyone know how to get past this? All help appreciated

Assuming this is the only drive in your system and your are formatting and installing XP from the CD?

tTry to format as FAT32 and install you can convert the drive to NTFS using diskmanagement tools in windows at a later date.

You assumed correctly, it is the only drive and I am installing from the cd.

I will try your idea and report back later.
