i have a bit of a strange problem with xp home.

actually i had to reinstall xp last night btw, so i've been up all night downloading all my old software and bookmarks.
i use opera as my browser too.

things have been fine until just recently. i'll go to a site for some software, click download, then the box comes up asking where you want it to go, and i click desktop.

another box comes up asking whether to 'save' or not.
the trouble is when i click 'save', nothing happens. the 'save' button doesn't press in at all. the mouse pointer shows 'busy', and it stays that way.

when i try to close it, a box with 'end now' or 'cancel' appears, i click 'end now'[which has always worked in the past], however again nothing happens.

i try to shut down the computer the usual way but it doesn't respond, so i have to press in the power button to shut it down.

this has happened every time i try, any ideas what is happening? thanks.

did you reload your motherboard drivers either from the original cd or downloaded?
