Unable to enable windows firewall

  Nails1 20:43 24 Mar 08

I installed bitdefender free version to replace Macafee which had expired. The problem is that on reboot I got the message Windows Firewall is disabled. I cannot enable. Now I get the
system is shutting down. I believe I may have done something to allow a virus. Problem is I cannot remain logged on long enought to do anything.
The bitdefeder free version do not have a firewall. I do however subscribe to bitdefender but installed the wrong download.
Can anyone help?

Whilst booting keep tapping f8 to enter safe mode.
In safe mode you can uninstll, then reinstall bitdefender.Try to enable your firewall and scan for viruses and spyware if it still don't work.
Should be able to do all this in safe mode.
