Unable to download using Chrome

I've always been able to download on Google Chrome...until today, I've tried a few sites and it won't begin. The same sites are downloading using Firefox and Internet Explorer. Can anyone help?

Have you opened the download manager by pressing CTRL+J to view your current downloads (if any) and your download history?
Have you checked your downloads folder?
Have you tried downloading multiple different filetypes from multiple different websites?

I've inadvertently solved it. Right clicking on the file reveals "Rename" option, changing it to "Musictrackmp3" enables me to open and play.
