I run Vista Home Premium - I uninstalled my Acronis True Image but there are three registry items that I cannot delete, they are as follows:
0 Key: "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIFSFILTER\0000"
Match is in the value data: ""DeviceDesc"" = ""Acronis True Image FS Filter""
Safe>
Correction: "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)"
Correction: [0] "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)"

1 Key: "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIFSFILTER\0000"
Match is in the value data: ""DeviceDesc"" = ""Acronis True Image FS Filter""
Safe>
Correction: "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)"
Correction: [0] "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)"

2 Key: "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIFSFILTER\0000"
Match is in the value data: ""DeviceDesc"" = ""Acronis True Image FS Filter""
Safe>
Correction: "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)"
Correction: [0] "Leave the entry (no permission to modify)".
I tried using "Registry First Aid" and then a manual delete from regedit - no matter what I do I cannot get "permission" to delete these entries - I need to delete these as I want to install "FarStone RestoreIT! Professional v7.1.0" and this programme will not install until every bit of Acronis is removed - Can anyone help please - Thank you - Ian

Do you have another drive you have been backing up to using Acronis ?

Do you still have (if created) a partition that stored any Acronis backups ?

Have you created a secure zone on any partitions ?

Ian,i dont know if the registry in vista has the same setup as in windows,if it does, try this

1 go into your registry

2 right click acronis

3 choose permissions

4 check that everyone is present in the list

5 if not click add

6 type everyone into the enter the object names to select

7 click check names button

8 once everyone is underlined click ok

9 click on the everyone entry so it is highlighted

10 inthe lower window, place a into the full control row and under the allow

11 remove any check marks in the deny column

12 click ok

if it is the same setup this may work for you,

Skidzy - Thank you - yes I have partitioned my hard drive and the smaller partition holds a complete back-up of my "C" drive - I think I see where you are going with this - but how would I find "Acronis" in the back-up files ?
De Nada - Thank you for that - Yes - granting permissions in Vista is the same as in XP - so I have done as you suggest - I shall now go away and play.

Before you can remove these registry entries i believe you will need to move the partitioned backup to an external drive or similar and then remove the secure zone and merge the partition.

I have had a similar issue in the past, this would not let me remove the entries while the external drive was disconnected.

Of course i maybe wrong here and do stand to be corrected.

Basically the registry entries are protecting your backup.

skidzy - I moved my backup - lol - problem still there - I now get the message "unable to save permission changes" - I think that I will reinstall Acronis and call it a draw - Bill has beaten me again - thank you for your help

Thank you - thats where my problem is - lol - Thats why I surrender - I'm going to the pub, the pub quiz is easier than trying to figure out Vista

Thank you for that tool - sadly it didn't get rid of everything: 0 Key: "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIFSFILTER\0000"
