Unable to delete empty file

  Hants1967 17:00 29 Mar 08

I am running Vista Premium and trying to delete a file downloaded from the internet with a name too long to delete it is an empty file

Windown will not let me delete it move it just keeps saying :
The File Name(s) would be too long for the desination folder,You can shorten the fiel name and try again, or try a location that has a shorter path.

Well if you try to rename it it gives the same error. tried dragging to recycle bin gives the same error.

Anyone know how to get round it many thanks

Hi there if anyone else has this poroblem I have managed to delete it but not with any help from Windows Vista!

I have a My Computer icon on my desktop right hand clicked and then went into Explore moved the files i had in the documents folder to my desktop then deleted the folder containing the file with the too long name. It allowed it to go to the recyle bin. Then created the folder again and moved the files back into it.

When i tried to empty the recycle bin it said can not delete file name too long but this time it gave an option of Skip ticked this and it cleared the recycle bin.
