unable to delete

  jackdouglas7 00:08 15 Jul 09

I scanned an old school photo and emailed it to myself. I put it on my desk top. I have now tried to delee it but it says "cannot read from source file or disc".
I have removed it from all other parts of my pc but my desk top will not let it go.
If I now try to open it it says " cannot find the file specified".
It is using nero photosnap viewer.

A couple of things you can try - first right-click desktop and select Refresh - then try to delete again.

If that doesn't work you can try Move on Boot, downloaded from here click here

MoveOnBoot allows you to Move, Copy or Delete files before Windows can lock or alter the files. The changes are made to your hard drive before Windows starts (it requires a restart of your system after you give MoveOnBoot its instructions). There are no messy boot or DOS commands, just a simple 3-step process. For more information about how this tool can help you, see the Can't delete files tutorial click here

Google "File Unlocker". Useful little utility.

I usually need it for "Access Denied" type problems, but it may work on yours.
