Unable to change blank IE startup page

Whenever I start up Internet Explorer (IE6) I am given a blank screen. I have been into "Tools | Internet Options", but all the "homepage" options are greyed out. The web-site shown is the last one that I set ages ago so it hasn't been hijacked. If I click on the little house (homepage) icon I get taken to the web-site just mentioned.

How do I get these options back so that when I logon I go straight to my desired homepage?

My system is running XP Home with SP1 and all the latest patches.

I should add that I have tried searching for this in previous threads, but they all seem to be about homepages that have been hijacked.

As I said, mine hasn't.

Do you have Spyware Blaster install? If so, hit the Tools Button and the Misc IE Settings Tab. Uncheck Disable the IE Home Page.... box.

Might need a reboot.

In Regedit, navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control
Panel

In the right-hand pane, right-click the "HomePage" value, then select
Modify. Change it to: 00 00 00 00

Also change either or these to zero 0 instead of 1 if present:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explo
rer] - DWORD "NoSetHomePage"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions] - DWORD "NoSetHomePage"=dword:00000001

If you don't have this key, browse to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

and in the right hand pane, double click "Local Page" and set equal to
"C:\WINDOWS\System\blank.htm" (no quotes) which will hopefully set your Home
Page to blank and then allow you to subsequently modify it using Internet
Options.

Exit regedit and reboot.

When you reboot, you should be able to change the home page again.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks.

I'll give that a go when I get home tonight.

Tried that when I got home and it worked perfectly.

Thanks again.
