I have a Multi partitioned HD, this is ok but I also have a usb compact flash card and also a MMC card and today I bought a External HD but I am unable to assign the drive letter in device manager of system properties the Internal HD is set ok but I,J,K,L,M and N, is set all incorrectly.

This how I would like my system organised,
I:\ would be the new Ext HD and J,K,L would be my CD Drive's and M:\ and N:\ would be my usb compact flash and MMC Drive's

would anyone be able to help.
Regards Arokh

Which version of Windows are you running?

whenever you remove the External drive.

You have a gap in the drive tree, as it were, and Windows tries to reassigne all the drives. Then when you re-connect the external, Windows adds it onto the end of the tree.
