asking on behalf of a friend as he has no internet access because of this problem.

He has NTL BBand and is unable to connect and open up the actuall Network Connection in network connections withing the Control panel. He says it will not open and it generates a DCOM error.

All I can think of is the WinXP Sok fix is needed. Has someone got any other thing to try please. Virus scan ok and running XP Home SP2

thank in advance :)

Make sure your friend is logged in under Administrator account, to gain access to Properties.

Can I suggest that your friend runs a malware program, possible ewido click here for a download. I know of somebody that had similar problems and found that it was malware. Ewido found it and identified it as a virus, even though they had ran their virus checker.
