Having bought a new PC running Win. XP and tried
to run interactive language program from a CD. On clicking desktop icon I get a dialogue box with message:- This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run. On this new computer I have 1024 MB RAM!! I had no trouble accessing it on my previous computer using Win.XP.
Can anyone suggest a solution please ?

Thanks for your responses. However, couldnot find my CD on list suggested. My CD Rom is published by The Open University, requiring Macromedia and QuickTime which are installed on my computer. The title is: En France en francais. Any further suggestions please.

Rght click My Computer - properties -advanced tab performance settings -advanced tab

this will show your virtual memory

if your having problem click change -custom size and enter 1536 (1 and a half times your ram)

Thanks Fruit Bat. My virtual memory custom size is already set to 1526MB when I checked by following your instructions. The maximum size is 3072MB and the minimum size is 2MB.Space available on C:=223566MB.

Fruit Bat you're a GENIUS!!! Had another go at the virtual memory, increased it to 4000 in both slots and Hey Presto! the CD Rom worked.
Another small problem though: unable to use the onboard voice recording and playback facility on the CD by plugging in a microphone. Error message: windows cannot load Dpv Setup.exe.
Would be grateful for the continued help of members of PC advisor.
Thanks again,
Teakettle.
