Type 44 Partition / GoBack ?

  chopstick 11:29 16 Jan 06

I had some system problems following an install of GoBack.
I have recovered my system and data to a second disk (reinstalled xp, and recovered data using ontrack easy recovery).
My original disk now shows as a 'type 44'partition. I am unable to boot from the original disk and disable GoBack.
Anybody any ideas on how I can get the partition back to a standard ntfs ?

Sorry, I wasn't being clear. If there is no other way I will format it and re-use.
I was wondering if there was some way of actually changing it without format.

I just had a bit of a read up on type 44 probs and some quite uncomplimentary things were said about Goback. The various posts in the link I've posted detail ways to rectify your problem, including an app to remove Goback from the MBR.
