Hi, I am currently trying to connect a second wireless computer to my netgear DG834G.The second computer is a recognised device on this router and Sometimes it seems to work and other times not? I have read some of the posts on this forum and I understand that i probably need to assign a different IP address to each Attached device, but am not too sure how to do this. Can anyone help?? Thanks

Each device should be set to acquire an IP address automatically , and the router set to DHCP .

from the first computer(lap top),you are able to go online.

From the second computer with the same router.. you not able to go online.

Step1: Remove the preferred networks and try connect to your network.

step2:check the ip address.

But you said after a while you not able to go online.

The lap top should picks up ip address from the router which will be listed in attached devices.

check in attached devices.

-->open the browser page.
-->Type in 192.168.0.1 and press enter.
-->enter user name and password for router.
-->this makes u enter into router page.
-->you could find small blue screen on the left hand side.
-->from that .. click on "Attach devices".
-->check the ip address for the second laptop is listed or not.
-->if it is listed, there is no problem in the router.
-->might be the problem with the wireless adapter in the second laptop.
-->Because at the same time first lap top going online.

-->if you are sure there is no problem in wireless adapter.

-->try to assign static ip address to the lap top inder wireless network connection and check whether you able to go online.
