Two Win XP OS Loaded

Last week I spent several hours trying to get windows to boot with no success. Finally I reinstalled Win XP from my disk. It was the basic set up of course, but fortunately I had backed up most of my stuff and it was simply a matter of moving it to the new installation. I now get a choice screen at boot giving me two Win XP choices. The first is the new installment which boots fine; the second is obviously the original XP and as per usual it will not boot. I want to get rid of the original instsllstion, but am unsure how to do this or for that matter, is it advisable to do this? Any help, advice, suggestions will be appreciated. Casey

Thanks Trackrat. There is a lot to digest in what I have printed out (especially for a novice such as I), but I'll certainly give it a go and see what transpires. Thanks for your prompt reply. Casey
