Two versions of Office?

Got asked this earlier today. A friend has Office 2000 on his machine, and has just bought Office 2003, which he wants to install, but keep his existing 2k version. Heaven knows why. I think this is possible. I think I've seen in the passed options to replace existing or install additionally, but would welcome any views.

XP Pro SP2.

I have 2k, XP, 03 all work "happily" together, you have to install in this order and files will be all associated to 03 unless you change it

all other components are fine, only word funny when it is first used, it is not a big problem just annoy, MS has not find a fix for it yet.

If it is only file compitabity he want to keep, then there is no reason to have both.

I mainly use 03, my daughter use XP, my wife use 2K and people in work use 2k. There is no file compiability problem.

Thanks folks. I will try and pursuade him to replace, but if not it looks ok. May be a problem with Outlook though.
