Okay so I bought my friends old Gaming PC of him, it just needed a new cpu fan as the other one stopped working.

After replacing that my pc runs fine until i start playing games for around 5 minutes and it shuts it self off.

I used Prime95 and it went up to 130 degrees and shut off.

My friend now has a new gaming computer and he tried prime95 and it only went to 57 degrees and stayed there.

I was thinking it might be my cpu so i took it to his house to try but it wouldn't fit so he put his cpu back in.

Turned on the computer and it was hotter than usual(usually sits 32degrees when doing nothing) he used prime95 and it went up to 100 degrees but could've went more but he turned it off.

We both have asus motherboards both intel cpus

We've both got the same problem.. thinging it might be something in bios? Or is it just as simple as making sure dust isn't in and new thermal paste?

New thermal paste would be a good idea, make sure to clean the old off before applying the new.

Also check that you have reseated the heat-sink correctly.

And perhaps make sure that there is no dust in the fins or elsewhere?.
