O S XP Home SP2

I reinstalled XP on my laptop, and after a glitch on the first attempt, I did it again. All appears well …BUT, when I boot up, a window appears with the option of two XP operating systems!!
Using the installation CD, I tried format, but was unable to proceed.
Can I delete or remove one of OS’s so that I do have the option to select an operating system every time I start up?
Jo

I forgot to add that I have installed the drivers, and as the Latop is getting a bit, I do not want mess about with too much.

Oh dear!

Blue message.. OS cannot be found.
Will try another reinstall and see what happens!!

Keep hitting F8 when starting, it will give the list of OS's again, you can choose the new one. No need to re-install.

Once you are into Windows, go to start menu/run and type

Notepad c:\boot.ini

press return

Hi brundle.... Sorry, I'm a bit too quick of the mark!
I am trying REPAIR with installation CD
If no joy, I shall start you advice as above..

Hi brundle.... The REPAIR option has now passed the former 'glitch', and is now on a 35 min countdown ...perhaps another installation!!

At least I can use your info above if that is the case, so that only one of them will open.

Yes, it's another install....
