Have a look in my computer and it should be listed

No you don't have to install windows on it.

You need to format it if it is a new drive or use one of the manufacture own utilities to install the drive.

presuming it has been installed and is ready for use -
It will have been assigned a letter, usually d: just navigate to it and store your data on there.
Double click on 'My Computer' and it will be listed.
No, you don't need to install Windows on it.
Windows is on your c: drive.

Think of it like a car. One engine (Windows Operating System).
Front seats to put stuff on (c: hard drive)
Back seats to put more stuff on (d: hard drive)
Car boot (CD drive)
Roof rack (DVD drive)
Tow a trailer (..anything else you plug in)

All that storage... but you still only need one engine

That's the way that I learnt when I first got my pc and then it made sense to me. Hope it helps you too.

First press the Windows key on your Keyboard + E this brings you into Windows Explorer where you should see the second drive as D:\ Create a folder on the right by right click create new Folder give it a name. You can then when you save like in Word, Choose the drive and the folder you created in the box that pops up, to save to.
