Two DVD rewriter drives

I have a friend whose PC has just one DVD drive which is a RW. He wants to fit a second drive and has asked me if the new one has to be a ROM or whether having two RWs on one PC would cause problems. If not, could they share the same IDE cable as master and slave or would one have to be on a different cable? Any advice on this, please?

Thanks. Ian.

Two one as master the other as slave will work fine.

I have 2 DVD drives on my PC, no problem. As you say set one master & the second slave. Does'nt matter if Rom's, Rw either.

Just to clarify earlier correct advice - Windows sees optical drives as just that and installs the basic CDROM driver for each one automatically.

The role of a rewriter is controlled by burning programs such as Nero.
