Twain & port problems with Photoshop

I am a long-time user of Photoshop for basic scanning and image work. A problem has arisen that I had three years ago with a different computer and different scanner. Can't remember how I fixed it or whether it simply corrected itself.
When I attempt to scan document I receive "Samsung SCX-4100 Series" message: "Port is disabled. Ensure that port is properly connected and power is on. Then restart your computer."
I then receive "TWAIN_32" message: "Could not open the TWAIN source. Make sure there is a valid source for your scanner in the TWAIN directory found in the Windows directory."
I have rebooted to no avail. Not certain how to accomplish the Windows TWAIN check.
Any ideas on this whole problem?

I would suggest disconnecting your scanner, uninstalling the software and doing a fresh installation.

Thanks, Marsh Warden - that appears to have done the trick!
