I'm thinking or replacing my system

Does anyone know if all TV cards can pick up freeview digital or do some only pick up analogue.

Also does Windows media centre replace xp all together or would I need to have both installed on my new system

You can buy terrestial TV (combined with FM radio in some cases) PC cards for about £30.

However, for Freeview or Satellite reception you have to buy a suitable TV card.

I use the TwinHan VisionPlus DTV ter card for Freeview reception; it cost just over £50 including delivery from:

Windows Medea Center is a specialised version of XP Professional and can only be acquired pre-installed on a Media Center system.

And I use a External USB2 Freeview, ARTEC DV3 from PC world £70

Plus a old Hauppauge WinPCI card for a old Analog Camcorder Capture. From when I used Win95, and now running in XP desktop

The TwinHan card also features recording facilities and timer, EPG, Preview and a neat remote control.

It brings in all the TV and radio programmes from the Winter Hill transmitter just as with my Pioneer Freeview set top box equivalent.
