I recently invested in an upgrade to my old computer, replacing the motherboard processor and memory. On my previos machine when I clicked on shutdown it turned off automatically. However with the new system It comes up with the screen

It is now safe to turn off your Computer

And I have to manually press the button? Is there a way to change this. I guessed the power management in the bios but couldn't see anything obvious.

You guessed what would normally be correct. Can you let us know your BIOS and someone with then same will, no doubt, post back and tell you where it can be found.
